Design, Implementation and Iteration of a Digital Preservation Processing Workflow

Abstract
The poster presents a series of workflow diagrams used to design, implement, and iterate the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Archives digital preservation processing procedure. The processing procedure comprises a set of digital accessioning and ingesting steps, including virus scanning, quarantine, SIP generation, technical metadata capture, and SIP validation. The workflow diagrams plot the path of the processing procedure, from the initial high-level design to its current working state. The workflow diagrams were beneficial in demonstrating to both internal and external stakeholders the aim of the digital preservation services. Additionally, the workflows are vital in identifying and mapping steps in the preservation process suitable for automation.
