AbstractAbstract: The rigorous solution of the problem of scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave by the semitransparent half-plane is presented. The solution is obtained using the method of the Sommerfeld—Malyuzhinets integral for two polarizations of the incident field. The analytical representation of the cylindrical wave scattered by the edge of the semitransparent half-plane is obtained with the use of the rigorous solution mentioned above. The accuracy of this analytical representation is tested by the comparison of numerical results obtained using the Wiener—Hopf method.
