Observation of Black-winged Stilt at Island mangroves on 28 Oct 2018
Black-winged Stilt (Himantopus himantopus)
Number of individual birds seen
Quite plain sylviid, white below, gray above with a hint of rufous in the wing. Crown a bit darker gray (not black) with sharp demarcation just below the eye between dark face and whitish throat. Throat not obviously whiter than breast and sides. No obvious eye ring, eye appeared to be dark. Tail dark above, of moderate length. Other possibility would be Menetries, but it lacked a red eye-ring and the appeared grayer above with stronger contrast between face and throat than female or immature Menetries.
