Summary
First identified on August 15, 2018 and a new record for Saudi Arabia. Re-examination of previous pictures indicate other earlier records and that it probably has also bred here. Breeds from Oman. Very similar to Little Bittern but lacks the black black upperparts which are instead duller and tinged rufous. In flight they both have pale covert panels and black flight feathers.
