dc.description.abstractStretchable inorganic electronic systems are promising research area for many applications, such as wearable electronics. The island-interconnects design represents one of the categories, which is widely used in stretchable electronics. Here we show, Archimedean-inspired design for interconnect that can achieve more than 1020 % of stretchability. Mathematical modeling followed by experimental validation is done to study the relationship between the stretchability and various geometrical parameters. Further, a numerical study is conducted comparing the stretchability of the Archimedean structure to that of the spiral and serpentine structures. We show that the Archimedean interconnects attain the lowest stress and thus the highest stretchability.
